We will be providing a mechanism for migrating core functionality from previous versions of Elgg to Elgg 1.0.
This will be based on OpenDD. More details are to follow!
Over the coming weeks, we will be working with Community at Brighton (50,000+ users) to migrate them from v0.9 to v1.0. The whole process will be documented and made available to those who are interested.

Yep. All I need is a way to massage a mysqldump of the 0.9 database into 1.0 format. And keep track of uploaded files :-) Hmmmm. Sounds like fun :-)

There are 2 plugins recently released to make that migration from Elgg 0.9 to Elgg 1.5, still in early stage. You can take a look at them:
Migration 0.9 -> 1.5 plugin for all data (0.8.0)
Please, share your experiences with that and tell us how they are working. I hope we will have a good migration procedure in a little time. :-)
