On my LAMP - Ellg 1.1 and 1.2 it works fine..

Got the problem, I unknowingly activated the "widget-plus", widget with the google map. When i deactivated it, it is working fine.. :-)

Did you know there is already a more complete plug-in out there? http:/
You might want to talk to the developer to make sure you guys are not doing double work or re-inventing the wheel. Besides, it would very confusing for Elgg users to have two plug-ins that do the exact same thing.
