Very nice! But, a couple questions:

What if they don't want the group transferred to them?

What if the Admin does not want the group transferred to the individual that it is being transferred to?

They can always transfer it back :) I had thought about this one; it needs a transfer confirmation system, but i didn't feel like developing it now.

That will take up a lot of management...

This plugin was developed with the deletion of users in mind. When a user is deleted, all that he owns (including groups) is also deleted. Therefore if you don't want the group to be deleted, you can transfer the owner... Transferring can be done by the owner of the group, or by the admin (incase of an inactive user owning a popular group, with a lot of data attached)

One suggestion. Could you add the option of allowing the administrator to be able to select from the Member Directory too. I have site where as the Administrator, I created all groups in the website. I will like to be able to transfer the group ownership to any member listed in the member directory. This option could be added to the admin area. Thanks.

this plugin is what I need!

But: the "transfer" button does not work. May it be that the groups-mod of the version 1.6 RC1 might not work together with your plugin?

(Actually I really don't know why this button is just nice, but dead...)

Jeroen, this is exactly what I need but the plugin is not working for me either.  Details: installed Elgg 1.6 with simple-blue-theme.  Of the 3 who have admin rights -- me and two others -- only 1 is available in the transfer drop down list.  No other admin or users can be seen. From the screen of the 3rd admin (who has access to all other create/delete functions and who can see the plugin in her Tool Administration list), no chance whatsoever to transfer group ownership.

@tlcoles at the moment you can only transfer to friends. Do the admins have friends?

I noticed, now, that the ownership transferred but the associated group image did not.  We'll re-upload, but thought you'd want to know.

I checked the page source and the OnClick() Script is available. But in reality no action follows the click.

well it is happening indeed on elgg 1.5.
So I'm wondering if this is an elgg 1.5 bug which was fixed in 1.6 or what...
