This plugin adds a tracking code to your elgg installation and shows the administrator the page visits of the last 30 days in a graph.
Piwik - Open Source Analytics (Edit your project's description!)
After you enable this plugin, you have to fill in some settings:
Go to the Administration -> Piwik Analytics.
Here you can configure the following settings:
- Enable tracking: Do you wish to track this site
- Tracking ID: The Piwik Analytics ID for this site
- Tracking URL: The URL of your Piwik installation (e.g. www.conlabz.de/piwik, without protocol and closing slash)

I think it is a common piwik error.
Can you please check in the piwik settings if an anonymous user can have access to the site statistics?

how to specify the URL ? ... our piwik is installed in localhost/elgg-1.7.6/medcap/mod/piwik

So your URL should be localhost/elgg-1.7.6/medcap/mod/piwik
Without protocol and trailing slash!
Are you sure that localhost is correct?
