Full description:

Group Manager

(Edit your project's description!)

Release notes:

The group moderation plugin is the latest release from Cubet Technologies(http://cubettech.com) to the elgg community. The Group Moderation plugin adds the admin moderation feature to newly created groups. The new groups will be disabled until admin approves them. It is tested well with 1.2.

Changes:

1. Added the group delete option for administrator

2.Email notifications are sent to the user when his group is approved.

3. Made compactable with elgg1.5

4. Optimized the code to load data from the language files.

5. Corrected the bug in showing the group images while editing and approving

6. Corrected alignment issues

7. Modified the 'no pending group' message

Please Let me know if you have any other notes on this.

Compatible Elgg Version: 1.6

Great plugin!

Request to join a group comes in as a message, but the message cannot be deleted... is that your plugin that does that, or is it the original groups plugin?

Is there a special order groups and groupadmin should be in?

slyhne 1144 days ago

A couple of suggestions.

Admin should be able to the following:

1. Take ownership

2. Approve request to join a group

slyhne 1144 days ago

@slyhne,

We need the group plugin on top of the groupadmin plugin, as groupadmin is an extended plugin of the group plugin.

@Wecubes, thanks for posting this up. I installed this and had trouble loading an image as the group icon. After disabling this plugin, this issue disappears. So I think there is some conflict with group icon loading and this plugin.

Is there any solution to this?

peace, peter.

cabaz888 1142 days ago

using this plugin will set the access it of new groups to 0.

However, approving of groups doesn't change it back to 2

@webcubes

Please ignore my last post. It seems I have a general problem deleting notifications of any kind, with or without your plugin

Hello,

I found a conflict with the plugin defaultwidgets. In your start.php on line 174 you put :
register_elgg_event_handler ( 'init', 'system', 'defaultwidgets_init' );

Why ?

Thanks,

Christophe

Hello,

I have problem with group icon too. I can't create it. Default icon have disappered. User can't access group - no icon too click on. If I try to delete this group I'm geting bug report:

"Failed to load new ElggObject from GUID:64 ..."

Thanks,

Paulius

I installed it and found a few problems. Once you install this, if you try to edit any groups the enable/disable features don't stick. So for instance, when I edit a group and set Enable group pages to NO, and click save... it doesn't save or stick. Once I disable and delete the groupadmin plugin, the stickiness of these preferences return.

Hi, I am testing this plugin in a elgg v1.5 installation. It works nice and provides the functionality we are seeking for our site.

However, I have a one suggestion and one problem with the plugin:

1.- The suggestion: every time the group is modified (not created), it requires authorisation again from the administrators. It could be nice if this were optional, as once the group creation is authorised you can receive lots of authorisation requests for minor changes, and owners have to wait for authorisation to continue their modifications.

2.- The problem: when a group has pages associated to it and later the group is modified, an approval request is sent to the administrators (as described above). When the authorisation is granted, the pages still appear in the group main page but you CANNOT access them becouse they are disabled (in the entities table). I understand that once the group is authorised all the contents should be enabled again...

Thanks in advance for any help on this!

Hi!

I have installed this plugin, but I can't to delete or enabled groups. I don't see whis buttons. May be I have installed plugin incorrectly?

Mystex 1109 days ago

The ability to change group ownership would be greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing some of the same re-authorization issues identified above.

I like this plugin, but got 2 problems:

1. Cannot creat group icon.

2. One user cannot view the groups created by other users(except admin).

Thanks.

jdleung 1088 days ago

wondering why these issues hasn't been resolved yet. webcubes, any estimation?

Liran Tal 1036 days ago

Its a great idea but not work here too: when i creat a group and after approval only admin can see the groups... the others cant, even after the plugin is disable!

Marcelo Teixeira 1032 days ago

I cannot delete a group.  Does this plugin truly have this capability?  If yes, how do I use it?

Michael 1011 days ago

None of the groups created and approved are showing up for any users other than admin.... how can i fix this!?
