Thanks for the Plugin. I installed the GPL version. It looks good and works good. However, shipping configuration is missing in the GPL version. How can the admin or seller input shipping fee in the GPL version. This is very important, otherwise, the GPL verison is useless. Hope you can fix this.

The current GPL version does not contain the shipping info.  You can get the address and manually send the products. But, if you are looking to have shipping options, you can get the PRO version. We will have multiple shipping options like UPS, FEDEX etc in the PRO version.

@Webcubes. I was not talking about the shipping address. I was talking about the shipping fee field. You did not provide that field in the GPL Version, which renders it useless. This is very essential for the plugin, otherwise, your hard work for the community would be a waste, as nobody would be able to use it.

If you provide it, members will be able to use the plugin, and when they make money, they can upgrade to the pro version. It does not make any sense to have a plugin that members cannot use.

Its working great for me, but i have little problrm and its about number of product upload.. i wish to upload thousands of product at the same time so is it possible using mysql where i can directlly upload the csv file which can create all data field for the products.. can anybody help me out with it... plz..

Currently social commerce plugin does not have a feature to upload products together. But it can be done and we need to create a separate module for it. Please contact me if you need it.

And with reference to "We have some additional modules that work with the social commerce plugin like advanced search, featured product etc." they must be paid as extras?

Hello,

We can buy the plugin at http://socialcommerce.elgg.in. You need to register as a member at http://socialcommerce.elgg.in to nuy the plugin. It is an elgg plugin that we can drop into our elgg mod directory and enable/disable. The additional plugins like featured product etc are additional add ons. We will be providing them for free for the first 30 days.

The plugin includes free basic support and 6 months free upgrades.

What license does the pro version come under? Can I use it on just one install or more than one? After 6 months and say, a security flaw or something is found, would I then have to re-purchase the plugin at full price to get the latest version?

The license allows you to use it for a single license. But, if you need to have it on multiple domains, then you can contact us for reduced rates, and we are happy to do that.

For the bugs and security flaws, we will be releasing patches at free of cost. Version will be major releases with a lot of new additions.

I'd like to see a more detailed list of feature comparisions.

Currently the notes seem too vague
"The GPL version has all the functionalities of a  social ecommerce application like..."
Product management,
"..The elgg social commerce PRO version is an advanced version. Below are some of the features.."

( I do not want to spend too much time digging into the code, or testing... while we consider this for prospective clients and other projects..)

I agree with Dhrup, also may I suggest webcubes go and look at Vasco and how he goes about discribing and supporting his commercial and free plugins. Vasco makes sure his free version kick ass and leave you wanting for more. If you wish for someone to purchase your plugin, your sales tool must be excellent in its delivery. In this case your sales tool is the free version, and it is very vague in its delivery. Simple questions about the paypal api as described by Jed are massive and paramount to the success of your plugin.  There is still a lot of "grey areas" with the free version which in term will create a confidence issue for those wishing to "upgrade"

Also a suggestion, as opposed to selling a pro package for $249.00 or whatever, why dont you sell "addons" for your free version. say charge $15 for a shipping module or a differnet payement gateway. I bet you would make money pretty quickly that way and completely eliminate the sticker shock most people are having regarding your product.

we are all encouraging the plugin, why are you so guarded? If you dont like what someone says just answer them here, deleting comments just looks like your hiding something.

I have a number of cart systems I run so let me tell you. For you to make make money create a basic fully functioning free version, with a basic shipping mod. Then charge for custom mods.

Go look at cubecart, oscommerce, zen cart etc.

I admire what you have created here, and I understand the need to generate revenue, but be smart and you will make money. Right now you just look greedy and that doesn't sit well within this community considering the core code you needed to create this great plugin came to you free in the first place.

Ponder this, why would anyone pay for your product, support and service when you seem quiet indifferent to peoples questions on this board? Are you going to behave the same way to a paying clients quetions??

Deleting posts goes even further to distancing yourself and potential customers.
