This plugin adds an OpenSearch endpoint to an Elgg site. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSearch for more details on OpenSearch
Users will be able to search your site from their browser's search bar.
It requires a configuration file before it will work. It's easy to do. See the readme file.
