One question. On my test site, akismet is blocking bookmarks as well. Is there anyway to configure it to allow links when using bookmarks?
This kind of configuration is not currently possible. However, if akismet is blocking bookmarks as spammy, then I assume that's because they contain spam-like information. Or are you saying it's blocking all bookmarks?

My bookmarks are ok in 1.8.01
I've got at least five spammers waiting to post (based on ip and display name), hoping they will go away frustrated. >:)

@Evan thank you for this plugin. My spam problem has gone to almost zero. One was able to get through in bookmarks only.
Api key is Commercial where i can get key for free
Fantastic plugin, however .. would be even greater if there is no check for admins. my own blog posting was blocked, and i am the administrator :)

I was arong before. Akismet doesnt block user registration, but it prevented message being sent by welcome_message plugin, therefore been complaining about it. Perhaps there should be a list of plugins that akismet shouldn't parse, like those repeated similar messages sent to newly registered users.
This plugin blocks almost every message admin user is trying to send, perhaps because admins send many similar standard messages. I think kismet should put what it thinks as spam into moderation, so that admins can review and either report messages as spam or ham. Now looks like kismet is learning from actual falsepositives. How reliable that would make this service in a week of use on a busy website? I know it makes admins hands tied to administer the site.

What do you mean by 'every message admin user is trying to send'? Are you talking about the wire, private message, blogs?
The service is very reliable, and I am not having those issues expressed by you
I asked akismet delete all data feeded & analyzed with my API keys and they asked me whether elgg plugin has report ham/spam button? Great idea would be if whatever plugin maarks as spam to be placed in reported content list, so that admins could review posts and either m,ark these ham and approve publishing or delete/report spam.
