Hi, would you please be willing to update either the manifest or else the release version so the versions are the same?
Thanks,
Brian
Often people select an option to vote from and then also at the same time make a comment. They hit submit thinking that the vote and the comment were posted.. However, only the comment is posted. The default value for polls should be a blank vote (that doesn't count), that way if someone wants to make a comment without voting, they can. Also, there should be a setting that only allows people to vote one time.
Recently it happened twice that the vote of one member got counted several times in a poll. So far, it was both times the same member. As far as I know he uses the Google Chrome browser. I don't know if upgrading to Elgg 1.7.5 and then 1.7.6 is also a reason for this problem, as it never happened before also with this member. Has anyone else noticed the same problem yet? Is there anything that can be done in the poll plugin code to prevent the double counting of votes?
Hi, pavithra.
The last release of this compatible out of the box with Elgg 1.5 not Elgg 1.7.X.
Those errors are generated because in previous versions those fields where not mandatory. To fix this you should to look up where the link is generated and call the elgg_add_action_tokens_to_url function to add those parameters.
Actually I'm not working in this plugin so any patch it is welcome
Hi Brian,
I abondend de development of this plugin some time ago. For similar features you can check: http://community.elgg.org/plugins/736791/2.4/group-tools
However if you need some customizations for groups (or another plugins) I can help you working as freelance.

@John: Nice plugin. I had a couple thoughts on this. First one is a link to the edit profile page right next to the progress bar. I was also thinking of using a lightbox. That would slide out from the side of the page when a users logs in. Reminding them to finish their profile.
@ClubUgly: Unfortunately, if you are using profile nagger with the 'default widgets' plug-in, the widgets you set as defaults only show up for users who have created their accounts after you have made those changes. This is a flaw in the 'default widgets' plug-in, not my Profile Nagger. One work-around would be to alter the user details php file to include my nagger code in it.
Also, I have a newer version of this plugin here Profile Nagger , so download that one if you haven't already.

I seem to have lost the ability to view site polls in the widget (just my own) or is it my site? I have been reordereing some plugins, so maybe something else is going on. But I only am able to edit the widget to see my own polls at the moment
@elggboy: Thanks!
@malaga jack: I have added the 'latest polls' widget, you are referring to, back into the latest version of this plugin (1.4). My wellmeaning collaborator Webgalli, was apparently working with an older version of my original Poll plug-in, when he modded it for Elgg 1.5. I think that is why it was missing, I took the latest files he sent and posted them not noticing it. He's done awesome work though. The latest build also has river support for voting (thanks to Webgalli).
Anyway, I also have updated the paging on the Friend's Polls & Site Polls pages so it should now work properly. It will show 10 polls/page and has a total retrieval limit of 999.
just did a server uprade, anyone got any ideas why now the when you click to view the polls, it just takes you to the index page, very strange??
Thanks a lot John M, this will work for the latest elgg 1.8.6 version? :)

Same issues with mine. In groups everything is there, just can not add poll. Also checks settings. User added a poll fine.
@elggboy & goofbucket: If you are running Elgg 1.5 (the latest version), there are some compatibility issues that I am still working on resolving. My apologies for the delayed response. I have been tied up finishing the elgg implementation my employer assigned me..
@elggboy & goofbucket: I figured out the issue with the group options not showing and have fixed it in the latest version of this plugin as well as the new one I have released for Elgg 1.5.
If you are using Elgg 1.5, please download the versions of the simple poll plugin & poll extended plugin which I have created for use with the new version of Elgg. Otherwise, your results may vary.
Thanks for all the input.
@malaga jack: Download it here : Poll Extended Plug-in / Elgg 1.5 compatible (for Simple Poll Plug-in) (1.0)
John this is such a hit on our site Thanks for all your work on this
We are now running into a slight dilemma
Our "all site polls" page is getting huge. Pagination would help however, for right now I need a quick hack to just display the last 10 or 20 etc polls. We will have probably 200 polls by the end of the month 500 by the end of may. You can see where this is going I don't wont to turn it off As it is such a big hit
Any idea where I can hack this to just show the last 20 polls
@malaga jack: I have posted an update to this plug-in that will address your issues. It introduces paging, limits the polls per page to 10, and fixes some other issues as well. Let me know how it goes.

Also the very top line items are not lined up correctly, I mean the profile "avatar" and "delete"
@elggboy: Judging from your site, which looks good by the way, you are using elgg 1.5. If that is the case, the original version of my plugin, as well as the Social Trak version, are not compatible with the altered river functionality of elgg 1.5.
I have, however, written a version that is compatible with elgg 1.5 and should work correctly with the river here: Simple Poll Plugin for Elgg 1.5
Hi John and thanks again for creating this poll plugin.
I just tested the plugin and created an italian translation for it, so I found that the following strings are not in the language file (and so they cannot be translated):
That's all for now...
@alfalive: try re-naming the css classes and modifying the accompanying code in the object view. I named them the same inadvertantly.. it's the classes for the progress bars that are giving you trouble.
@John M: thanks for your response. Here is what i see from both plugins. Polls_st displays current polls including friends, so it's visible simple poll (1.0) only displays your own polls. Polls needs to be visible to friends and groups you want it to be visible to i would think. SO i guess we can combine both plugins into will all the functionalities and it would be great-
-poll visible to friends
-ability to extend poll to blogs and groups
-poll activity into river
Just my opinion, thanks
@elggboy: I haven't created a way to put polls in blogs, however, my new plugin "Poll Extended" does allow them to be assigned to groups. I also added a "Latest Polls" widget to my latest version of Simple Poll Plug-in, which shows all polls on the site (friends, groups, whomever).
I am also working on a version of my "Poll Extended" plugin that will be compatible with elgg 1.5, however it isn't completed yet.

@malaga jack: I have posted an update to this plug-in that will address your issues. It introduces paging, limits the polls per page to 10, and fixes some other issues as well. Let me know how it goes.
I have a confict with the profile_nagger progress bar and the % bar. The poll plugin will now shift the page elements to the right. Any idea on fixing would be great as I love the plugin.
Great plugin. I am trying to see how i can integrate poll into blog and group discussion. Any input?
@socialtrak guru: I have resolved this issue in v1.3. Thanks for the good catch. ;)
@caledosphere: same as above, see v1.3 for fix.
@sadistic intent: Since my 'poll' plugin is actually loosely based on the 'blog' plugin, I am not sure how well they will integrate with one another or how an interface to facilitate that would look. I'll give some thought to it, though.
@ash & @elggboy: I've addressed the 'blog' integration issue above. As for group integration, I do have an idea of how that might be possible. It is a reasonably meaty modification, however, so this isn't something I'll be getting to immediately. @everyone: Anyone out there that wants to take that task on, feel free..
@everyone: Thanks for all the great bug-catching and suggestions!

Not bad at all, one problem so far. if you go to edit the poll after you have written it, and click on save after you have made your edits, you get a blank page
@chambo67: Good catch, thank you! Bug fixed in 1.1 version which I've just posted.
Nice - would be good to be able to do group specific polls that show up there and can be limited to group members. Just a thought for later development. Thanks for this fine plugin

I do. But, there seems to be some problem with the profile_manager plugin. Not sure though.

Also, I have a newer version of this plugin here Profile Nagger , so download that one if you haven't already.

is there a plugin put there that allows you to rate several categorys?
like:
Color: 5points
Weather: 4points
etc...
Awesome plugin. I have used this plugin to rate the files the user uploads. Is there any way i can display it on my custom_indiex page based on the rating...like a 'featured uploads' kinda thing???...
Hi !
THX you a lot for your comment ! Actually it has been a long time I stopped the development on my Elgg website.
But as far as I remember, I created lots of modules with widget views. In one widget I took back the object I needed thanks to the rating attribute save in the database and relating to this object.
Hope it might help !
