victor, what computer and what browser are you working on? The plugin uses methods that were used by the core Elgg as well, so it shouldn't affect performance - especially so heavily.

I know this is strange. I tested on my local install.

I'm using elgg 1.5 and Opera 9.6 under Xampp - windows xp.

I'll give it another try and test on other browsers.

Actually my Elgg local install is really slow. I dont know why but this Elgg community site runs faster than my local install.
