What is the logic for letting the 'AlignLeft', 'AlignCenter', 'AlignRight', 'AlignJustify' buttons out of Elgg's CKeditor? It makes no sense. Why not leave the undo-redo buttons out if it is about lack of space? At least there is keyboard shortcuts for them.
IMO aligning content is one of the most important features for a WYSIWYG editor. Is there any work-around other than that a user has to write their content on word and then paste it onto CKEditor?

I also wish that some of the most common and standard features were available in core CKEditor rather than having to resort to using a plugin.
I've not tried the "Paste from Word" feature so I don't know how well that works or if anything gets stripped out.
The CKEditor Extended is invaluable but it didn't help with the text alignment. I tweaked with it and the justifyClasses last night but the feature seems to be missing. Maybe some css will help...
I think they were trying to go with the minimal look.
They succeeded. ;-)
It would be nice if admins could have the settings option to select the ckeditor features they would like to use. Below is a screen shot of the ckeditor options that are configured for another script that I use.
@Dan the CKEditor Extended plugin has the ability to do that.
@Cim
Not at all. Just a few ones... for example the alignments are missing. And the font and size and smileys etc (haven't tried them all). Some of them work. Again, there are many features that can't be enabled even with CKEditor Extended. Or maybe I'm missing something?
It's in the plugin settings once you activate CKEditor Extended, see screenshot below:
@Cim, I know, I've used it and I'm the one that posted the initial link to it.
I just think it would be nice if it was just part of the settings of the CKEditor plugin without having to install a second plugin and manually entering the items you want to enable.
@Dan I was replying to Darth Vader but yes you're right. Well that's why plugins like CKEditor Extended exists :)
